Miscreants thrash ATM guard; snatch cash, phone

Three unidentified miscreants snatched Rs 1,500 cash, two mobile phones, including an Apple iphone, after thrashing a security guard deployed outside an ATM machine in Jamalpur area in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The security guard, Amritpal Singh, a resident of Sat Kartar Nagar, Tibba road, said, "Three miscreants on a motorcycle barged into the ATM cabin at around 5 am on Thursday morning and attacked me with a sharp-edged weapon."

The accused fled away from the spot after the snatching.

Jamalpur station house officer (SHO), inspector Davinder Singh, said the police registered a case under Sections 382 for hurt or restraint in order to committing of theft and Section 34 for acts done by several persons in futherance of common intention against the accused under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police have asked the bank to provide the CCTV footage of the ATM cabin to help nab the accused.
