The body of an 18-year-old engineering student who went missing on Saturday was fished out from Sidhwan Canal on Monday evening.

Alleging murder, family of the deceased, Krishna of Model Town, said the killers dumped the body in canal after killing him.

The autopsy report has also revealed multiple injuries, including a head injury, on the body said sub-inspector Surinder Chopra. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The SI said the injury marks could have resulted after the body hit the walls of the canal.

Police are trying to trace his mobile and motorcycle.

His father Ghanaiya Lal said on Saturday, Krishna left the house after receiving a phone call, but did not return.

We kept calling him, but he did not pick the phone and later it went switched off. On Sunday, they filed a missing report at Atam Nagar police post.

Krishna was pursuing engineering from a private college and used to work part time at a car repair shop at Dhuri Lines after college.
