Senior superintendent of police Harcharan Singh Bhullar said acting on a tip-off, a police team was sent to Ludhiana and rescued the girl from a rented accommodation, where she was staying with the accused.

Kulwant Kaur, mother of the girl, had lodged a complaint with the that on November 4 her daughter went missing from the Malerkotla bus stand from where she was supposed to board a bus to Tibba village. Following the complaint, the SSP constituted special investigation teams under the supervision of deputy superintendents of police at Amargarh and Malerkotla.
