Four days after a local businessman, Karan Arora, went missing, he was traced to Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. A team of SAS Nagar police brought him back, and till the filing of the report, they were investigating how he reached Uttar Pradesh. The police declined to clear the air whether Arora was kidnapped or had gone on his own.
SAS Nagar SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said they brought Arora back from Shamli district after his wife informed the police that she received a call from Arora around 9am on Sunday, telling her that where he was.
Karan Arora, a resident of Chhapar Chiri Khurd village, was missing since December 2, while his car with blood stains and a broken windowpane was recovered 500 metres away from his house on December 3 morning. Arora, who had close links with high-profile people, including a number of IAS and IPS officers of Punjab and Chandigarh, had left to attend a party but did not return.
On Saturday, hearing the news of Arora’s disappearance, a Amritsar-based commission agent Jaspal Setia , 58, had committed suicide as Arora allegedly owed him nearly Rs 6 crore. Jaspal was under pressure from different money lenders and he apparently lost hope of getting the money back from Arora knowing he had gone missing.
Meanwhile, as per a statement from the Uttar Pradesh police, there were loopholes in the statement of Arora that he was kidnapped and investigations are on to bring out the truth.
