The passengers of a Subhanpur-bound mini-bus near here had a miraculous escape on Monday after the bus they were travelling in overturned three times before coming to a halt in a field. The driver was reportedly using a mobile phone because of which he lost control of the vehicle.
The police said that passengers had even objected to the bus driver, identified as Lakhwinder Singh, using the mobile phone, but their requests were futile.
"He did not pay heed to their advice and kept driving in a rash manner. Luckily, the passengers suffered only minor injuries," said Subhanpur station house officer Iqbal Singh. The bus driver has been booked.
