Though the city police already have a helpline number for senior citizens at 1090, the Model Town police have launched two other helpline numbers - 783-701-8611 and 0161-254-7715 for senior citizens of the area.

To publicise the new helpline numbers, police have been advertising them through brochures and pamphlets.

Gurdev Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Model Town police station, said, "I feel old-age people should not be made to visit police stations. The police should visit their places if they have any complaint or police-related work. The police will be at their doorstep the moment we receive any phone call or text message.”

He added, "If a senior citizen from any other area also needs help, we will pass on the complaint to the police station concerned."
