The police on Tuesday booked a youth and a woman, both residents of Rabb Naagar area in Moga, in connection with rape of a 17-year-old girl of the same locality.

Shiv Chand, in-charge of the Focal Point police post, said the victim had complained to the senior superintendent of police that a woman, Gurmeet Kaur, met her a few months back and promised to fix her marriage with a youth, Gobind.

"After that Gobind met me at the house of Gurmeet Kaur often and raped me several times on the promise of marriage. But after four months, Gobind turned down the marriage proposal and threatened to kill me if I spoke to anyone about the relations," the victim told the police.

Investigating officer (IO) Shiv Chand said after her medical examination at Dr Mathura Dass civil hospital, Moga, the swab of the girl has been sent to a laboratory at Chandigarh. A case has been registered against Gurmeet Kaur and Gobind.
