The State Election Commission has appointed S S Sandhal as Panchayat election observer for the panchayat polls scheduled here on July 3.
Mr Sandhal held meetings with the District Electoral officer cum Deputy Commissioner, SSP Surjit Singh Grewal and other concerned election officials and reviewed the arrangements for the fair, free and peaceful elections, an official statement said today.
The observer urged the officials as well as police officials for the strict implementation of the model code of conduct and other instructions issued by the Election Commission.
He made it clear that the model code of conduct would be applied on the political parties, contesting candidates,employees of the state government and other public servants.
The SSP assured the observer that adequate police force would be deployed to conduct peaceful, fair and free panchayat poll so that people could exercise their franchise fearlessly.
There are 344 panchayats that would go to the polls in Moga.
