'More superintendents to berecruited at juvenile homes'

Social Security and Development of Women and Children (SSDWC) director Gurkirat Kirpal Singh on Saturday visited the juvenile home and rehabilitation centre, from where, as many as six inmates had fled after breaking the jail and beating two caretakers. The director also held meeting with officials at the juvenile home, child development and project officers.

Singh said, "More superintendents will soon be recruited at juvenile homes in all over state. In this regard, the list regarding promotion of officials has already been sent to the promotion committee of the department."

He also met the inmates lodged at the juvenile home and listened to their problems.

Singh said efforts were being made to enhance the security system at juvenile homes and also for the rehabilitation of inmates.

It is worth mentioning that, on June 21 late, as many as six inmates at the juvenile home had kept two caretakers hostage and fled after jumping over the compound walls of the home.
