Despite creating uproar in the region for allegedly hurting Sikh sentiments, cinemas in the city showcased the movie “MSG-2”, featuring Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim, on Sunday.

The followers of Ram Rahim turned out in huge numbers at the Flames Mall, Malhar Road and SRS Omaxe Mall, near Bhai wala Chowk. Both the malls showcased 2 shows each of the movie, which witnessed a huge gathering.

Earlier, the Pavilion Mall PVR cinemas scheduled two shows of the film, but later cancelled them, following controversy. When the movie was not showcased in the multiplexes in the city, the followers were forced to watch it through pirated CDs or even visit other cities.

“We don’t have to visit other states to watch the movie. The movie is well-crafted and managed to draw huge response,” said one of the followers at the Omaxe Mall.

Meanwhile, some of the city residents said religion had turned commercial these days and what was ironical was the fact that common man was being fooled by such tactics.
