MSG row hits Ludhiana; two cases registered

Row over Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh 'Insan' starrer movie 'MSG: The Messenger of God' has hit Ludhiana before its release. The Ludhiana police have registered two criminal cases on Sunday for burning an effigy of the movie and for forwarding objectionable messages about the dera head on mobile messaging application WhatsApp.

Shakti Singh, a resident of Sain Bhagat Colony of Kali Sadak, has lodged an FIR against Lucky Bajwa for forwarding objectionable message about the dera head. The Basti Jodhewal police have registered a case under Section 67-A of Information and Technology Act-2000 and Section 295 (Injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police are yet to arrest the accused.

In yet another case, some people burnt the effigy of the film at the Tibba Road on Sunday. The Basti Jodhewal police have registered a case under Section 295 of the IPC against unidentified accused. The case has been registered following the statement of Harish Kumar of Hari Kartar colony. In his compliant, Harish alleged that the accused were protesting against the release of the movie on the road.
