Murder accused arrested three years after crime

Three years after a youth of Sartaj Nagar was allegedly murdered by eight persons, the Basti Jodhewal police arrested last of the absconding accused on Saturday.

The accused, Vimal Kumar, a resident of Farid Nagar of Salem Tabri area, was arrested from Jodhewal Basti area. The police would produce him before the court on Sunday.

Kumar and his seven accomplices had allegedly killed Gautam Sethi of Sartaj Nagar on May 30, 2010. A case of murder was registered against the eight accused. The police had arrested all accused, except Vimal. In June 2012, the court had declared him proclaimed offender.

According to assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Kapil Kumar, incharge at Sunder Nagar police post, Vimal, along with his seven accomplices, had entered into a clash with Sethi on May 30, 2010, and during the brawl, Gautam had received serious injuries, which led to his death.

The main accused, Balwinder Singh, was arrested on the same day.
