A day after state excise and taxation minister Kiran Choudhry was attacked by unidentified miscreants at a village near Narnaul of Mahendergarh district, police have registered an attempt to murder case (section 307) and launched investigations into it.
Choudhry was addressing a public meeting late evening on Wednesday at Koriyawas village, when stones were thrown at her, which hit her in the chest and head. She was rushed to Narnaul civil hospital and later shifted to a Gurgaon hospital.
Kiran may miss the Friday rally at Bhiwani’s Kirorimal Park in support of her daughter Shruti.
Meanwhile, Supporters of Choudhry staged protests in Bhiwani and Narnaul, demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants. Protesters handed over memorandums to Narnaul and Bhiwani deputy commissioners-cum-electoral officers to take swift and strict action against the accused.
Kiran’s daughter Shruti Choudhry, the sitting MP and Congress nominee from Bhiwani -Mahendergarh, alleged that the attack on her mother was the handiwork of tur ncoat politician Dharambir Singh and his brother Rajbir Singh, alias Lala. Dharambir had recently quit Congress to join the saf fron par ty and is BJP candi date from Bhiwani Mahendergarh. Talking to mediapersons, she said, “Dharambir and his brother Lala are the brains behind the attack. The duo had resorted to similar violence in 1989 Lok Sabha polls against my grandfather and former CM Bansi Lal.”
THEATRICS, SAYS DHARAMBIR
BJP nominee from Bhiwani Mahendergarh seat Dharambir Singh said that it was unfortunate “if ” Kiran was attacked.
He said that since he was not present there, he couldn’t say for sure that she was actually attacked or it was a ploy to gain sympathy. He said that she was a master in enacting such theatrics for political mileage, as she did the same in the last (2009) polls also.
