Murder convict out on parole fatally stabs neighbour
A murder convict out on parole allegedly fatally stabbed his neighbour in village Gajju Khera here. Accused Sarbjit Singh was serving life imprisonment in an honour killing case at Patiala Central Jail.
A murder convict out on parole allegedly fatally stabbed his neighbour in village Gajju Khera here on Friday. Accused Sarbjit Singh was serving life imprisonment in an honour killing case at Patiala Central Jail.
The accused was released on one-month parole on March 6. Police said victim Kuldeep Singh was his neighbour and had good relations with the accused's family.
Police said on Friday evening, Sarbjit under the influence of liquor started abusing Kuldeep and his family members over some issue. Kuldeep had stood surety and completed all formalities to get the accused released on parole, it was learnt.
Kuldeep came out of his house and told Sarbjit to talk to him in the morning as he was drunk. The family members of both managed to avert a showdown.
After some time, Sarbjit returned, following which both exchanged blows. The accused took out a dagger and stabbed the victim in his stomach. Kuldeep succumbed to his injuries on way to Gian Sagar Hospital.
Police said accused was awarded life imprisonment for the double murder of his sister Sanwinder Kaur and her husband Suresh Kumar on March 14, 2008.
The police had arrested the accused and registered case under Section 302 of IPC.
