The Punjab government announced financial aid of Rs 7.5 lakh to the Dalit youth Sukhchain Singh’s family, who was found murdered in Mansa.
Minister for welfare of scheduled castes and backward classes Gulzar Singh Ranike said he had directed officials to provide financial aid to the family.
Meanwhile, the standoff between family members of the youth and the district administration over cremation and post-mortem continued, even as police arrested the fourth accused, Babrik Singh, on Thursday evening.
“We want all six accused arrested. The cops should also take action against SHO Chanan Singh who was hand-in-glove with the smugglers,” said Sukhvir Singh, victim’s younger brother.
The family has also demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh and a government job to one of their members.
