Investigating the case of a retired district education officer (DEO), who was found murdered at his flat in Dashmesh Colony, Shimlapuri, on Friday morning, the police have procured the close-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the area.

Retired principal Subhash Kumar, 62, was allegedly stabbed with sharp-edged weapons and also strangulated with a piece of cloth. His body was found in a half-naked condition on the bed in his room.

Shimlapuri station house SHO Gurbinder Singh said, “CCTVs were installed outside some flats in the area. The police have procured recording of Thursday and Friday. We have been scanning the CCTV footage to get a clue about the killers. The police have been expecting some important clue from the footage.”

“Some suspects have been captured entering the building during night in the CCTVs. The police suspects that the killers moved out immediately after killing the elderly person,” the SHO said.

In the prima facie, the police have found that there was no forced entry of killers in Subhash Kumar’s flat. The killers were known to the deceased. The police also suspect that the killers were two or more in numbers, who had over powered the 62-year-old and strangulated him to death. The police also suspect that the accused had gagged the elderly person before killing him so that his screams would not alert anyone.

SHO said, “The preliminary investigation reveals that the killing is result of some personal rivalry.”

It is pertinent to mention that Subhash Kumar had left his house at Bank Colony in Jamalpur on Thursday, saying that he was going to Ambala to see his property. As stopped attending any calls after 9pm on Thursday, his family reached their flat at Dashmesh Nagar searching for him on Friday morning, where they found his dead body.
