Muslims protest illegal control of graveyard land

Hundreds of Muslims, on Wednesday, held a protest with the body of deceased Pritam Khan, alleging that they didn't have land for the graveyard in Kakran village of Bhawanigarh sub-division of the district as the graveyard land had been illegally occupied by some people.

Hundreds of Muslims, on Wednesday, held a protest with the body of deceased Pritam Khan, alleging that they didn't have land for the graveyard in Kakran village of Bhawanigarh sub-division of the district as the graveyard land had been illegally occupied by some people.

After a drama of several hours, Bhawanigarh naib tehsildar Gurnam Singh and SHO Sukminder Singh reached the spot. After inspecting the land record, the tehsildar found that the land had been allotted for the graveyard in the village but some people had illegally occupied it.

Then, the police and tehsildar reached the village and vacated the land reserved for the graveyard.

Nazir Khan, son of deceased Pritam Khan, said that there are 150 Muslim families in the village but they did not have land for the graveyard as some people had illegally occupied the reserved
