Parents of seven-year-old Rahul, who died while undergoing treatment at ESIC Model Hospital in the city, alleged that the doctors at the hospital did not give proper and timely treatment to their son.

According to deceased's parents Gobind and Prabha Devi, Rahul was suffering from low fever, loose motions and vomiting. He became unconscious in the morning and died around 9 am at the hospital on Tuesday.

Earlier, Prabha Devi took her son Rahul to Employees State Insurance Corporation Model Hospital at Bharat Nagar on Saturday for treatment. She said the doctors treated her son and after a few hours discharged him, but Rahul's condition was not well at that time.

Family members along with the employees of Eastman company demanded an inquiry in the matter so that the guilty could be punished.
Naresh Thakur, assistant manager of Eastman impacts, a company in Dhandari where Prabha works, said Prabha visited the hospital again on Monday around 12 pm.

He alleged that the hospital staff was not admitting the child who was ill. He said Prabha made many requests to the hospital staff to save his child and around 4 pm Rahul was given treatment after being admitted to a ward.

Prabha alleged that she made appeals to doctors to admit Rahul who was not feeling well but none of them felt her pain.
She further alleged that after making repeated requests, Rahul was admitted to the hospital after four hours, but doctors did not give proper treatment to him.

Prabha said she could not afford treatment at private hospitals so she opted for the ESIC hospital as she contributes towards the ESIC from her salary.
Naresh alleged that workers contribute to the ESIC from their salaries then why do the authorities not ensure proper care and treatment to labourers.

He said strict action should be taken against the hospital staff who was at fault.
When contacted, medical superintendent, ESIC Model Hospital, Dr PL Chaudhary said she had marked an inquiry in the matter and only after its report she could comment on the real reason behind the death of Rahul.
