The wife of Nabha jail warden committed suicide on Tuesday and left behind a suicide note blaming her husband for pushing her to take this extreme step due to his daily abuse. Though a case has been registered against the warden, no arrests have been made.

Baljinder Kaur (43) committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance and was rushed to the Rajindra hospital in Patiala, where she died. Her suicide note has accused her husband of harassment and domestic violence. She is survived by a 22-year-old daughter.

The police have registered a case against jail warden Harbhajan Singh on the complaint of Hardiyal Kaur, mother of the deceased. Hardiyal Kaur said a day before ending her life, Baljinder had spoken to her sister on phone and reported mistreatment by her husband daily and she had said that she didn't want to live any more.

Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Purshottam Kumar, who is investigating the case, said a case had been registered against Harbhajan Singh under 306 of IPC, but so far no arrest had been made as the post-mortem report is awaited. He said in the suicide note, Baljinder Kaur has written that she was suffering from domestic violence and that her husband indulged in daily fights with her. This, she has written, has been going on for a long period.

However, the accused refuted the allegations, saying that he had normal relations with his wife and that the suicide was a plot against him by some relatives.
