Nakodar block samiti gets new chairperson

A Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Balwinder Kaur, resident of Sahem village,was elected chairperson while Bahujan Samaj party's (BSP) Palwinder Kaur, resident of Bopa Rai kalan village,was elected the vice chairman of the Nakodar block samiti, in the election held on Monday.

A Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Balwinder Kaur, resident of Sahem village,was elected chairperson while Bahujan Samaj party's (BSP) Palwinder Kaur, resident of Bopa Rai kalan village,was elected the vice chairman of the Nakodar block samiti, in the election held on Monday.

The SAD had won 9 of the18 zones while Congress and BSP could only bag 5 and 4 zones respectively. Around 13 members participated in the election which was supervised by Nakodar SDM HS Dhaliwal.

Nakodar MLA GS Wadala was also present during the meeting. The Congress and the BSP jointly fought samiti election but on Tuesday BSP sided with the SAD. Meanwhile, the meeting of Nurmahal block samiti for election of the chairman was adjourned for Tuesday.
