Sadar police failed to make any headway in the second round of investigation in the 2005 murder case of transporter Chain Singh of Hundal Dhadda village. SP (detective) ordered the re-investigation in 2013 even as Nakodar DSP had recommended closure of the case.

Chain Singh was killed on March 20, 2005 when unidentified miscreants hit him with an iron rod while he was on morning walk, killing him on the spot.

A case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC was registered against unidentified miscreants. Harbhajan Singh, the son of the deceased, expressed anguish over the failure of the police to identify the killers even after nine years. SHO Dilbag Singh said investigations were on.
