Nakodar: Rs 5 Lakh snatched from dairy farmer

Four car-borne robbers snatched Rs 5 lakh from a dairy farmer by throwing chili powder in his eyes on Tuesday evening.

Four car-borne robbers snatched Rs 5 lakh from a dairy farmer by throwing chili powder in his eyes on Tuesday evening.

Balbir Kumar a resident of Rahimpur village complained to the police that he was returning home on his motor cycle after withdrawing Rs 5 lakh from a bank in Nakodar when four men in a car stopped him near Khosa village on the Nakodar -Kapurthala Road and threw chilly powder in his eyes and snatched his bag containing the money and fled away.

Station house officer Devenider Singh said that a case under section 379-B-II (snatching) of IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.

Ina separate case Nakodar police have arrested a snatcher and recovered a motor cycle and a mobile handset from his possession. The accused has been identified as Deepak, a resident of Billi Chaharmi village in Shahkot.

Police said that Sunil Narang, a resident of Krishna Nagar, complained that the Deepak along with his accomplice Gurjit Singh Laddu had snatched a purse from his aunt on March 25 in Nakodar.

A case under section 379-B (snatching) and 34(committing crime with common intention) of IPC has been registered against the accused.
