Namdhari delegation meets PM, demands security for sect chief

A murderous attack on Namdhari sect chief Thakur Udai Singh in Leicester, UK, last Sunday has added to the tension between two factions supporting the chief and his brother Thakur Dalip Singh, one of the aspirants to the “gurugaddi”.

A murderous attack on Namdhari sect chief Thakur Udai Singh in Leicester, UK, last Sunday has added to the tension between two factions supporting the chief and his brother Thakur Dalip Singh, one of the aspirants to the “gurugaddi”.


Terming it as a conspiracy against Thakur Udai Singh, a delegation of Namdharis led by the president of Namdhari darbar, HS Hanspal who is also the former PPCC president met the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday.

The delegation handed over a letter to the Prime Minister requesting him for additional security for Thakur Udai Singh.

HS Hanspal while talking to Hindustan Times said, "Thakur Udai Singh is comming back from UK tomorrow and appehending threat to his life. We want the government to provide him additional security."
