Narrow escape for students as school bus overturns in Ambala

Atleast 40 students of the Shivalik Senior Secondary School has a narrow escape on Wednesday morning when their school bus turned turtle after hitting a culvert near Do Saraka.

Locals said that the bus overturned and fell into the nearby field after the driver lost control. The driver fled from the spot after the mishap.

The villagers rescued the students after breaking the windowpanes and rushed them to the hospital.

Soon after the mishap, large number of villagers and parents gathered on the spot and shouted slogans against the school management for ferrying more students than the permitted seating capacity. The bus was ferrying 40 students against the capacity of 32 students.

Mullana station house officer (SHO) Sudhir Taneja said that 5-6 students had sustained minor injuries in the mishap. No action could be taken as no complaint was lodged, he added.
