Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam ltd’s (SJVNL) 1500 megawatt Nathpa Jhakri hydro power station has set up another record of power generation by generating 7,193 million units of electricity during fiscal 2013-14.
The generation is 579 million units more than the design energy of the power station, which is 6,612 million units.
The power station commenced generation in 2004-05 and so far it has generated 65,000 million units of electricity. The electricity generated is supplied to the northern grid states including, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh and Delhi.
On the occasion, chairman and managing director RP Singh commended all employees at the power station and said in spite of the high inflow of over 16 lakh tonnes of silt in the Satluj, water and machine management by the engineers had helped to generate 7,193 million units.
Meanwhile, SJVN’s 412 MW Rampur hydro power station in the state and 47.6 MW Khirvire wind power project in Maharashtra have also commenced generation.
