A meeting of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) was convened under sessions judge Gobinder Singh on Thursday.
He said the DLSA would organise a national lok adalat in Ludhiana on November 23. He called upon people to volunteer for sorting out their legal battles in the lok adalat so that they could avail prompt justice.
He also stated that all cases decided in the lok adalat would be given the decree of civil court and added that there was no provision to appeal in the higher court against the cases decided in the lok adalat.
Singh further said the cases were decided with mutual understanding of both parties in the lok adalat and the respective parties got back all money spent on litigation.
The cases which had not yet gone to the courts would also be deliberated upon and decided in the lok adalat, he added.
The pending cases would also be heard in the national lok adalat.
Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Neeru Katyal was also present during the meeting. She was asked to present maximum cases pertaining to revenue in this lok adalat, so that they could be taken to a logical conclusion without further delay.
Katyal was also asked to brief the block development and panchayat officers, district education officers and patwaris to pass on the message to larger sections of people in urban as well rural areas.
