Soon, residents of Nawanshahr will get facilities under the Right to Service (RTS) Act at their doorsteps though 52 Integrated Service Providing Centres that will be functional soon in the various parts of the district.
As many as 33,100 residents benefitted from RTS during last month in Nawanshahr district.
Deputy commissioner, Amar Partap Singh Virk said, "The main aim of the Act was to empower the people by providing hassle free delivery of public utility services at various government offices and this would become more comfortable after the opening of new centres."
Due to the implementation of the Act in the district, 7,255 people benefited from Computerised Farad Kendras set up at Nawanshahr, Banga and Balachaur.
Besides, 1,018 non-encumbrance certificates, 945 deeds and 861 un-contestant mutations were issued by the revenue department in March 2015.
Meanwhile in the transport department as many as 3,608 services were provided including 1,254 new RCs and 1,697 driving licenses. Health department has also performed well by issuing 3,834 certificates of birth/death besides disposing of 574 applications of rectifications.
Besides 5,977 residents availed benefits of services delivered by home department including through Saanjh Kendras.
These services include arms licences, complaints, verification of passport and character (police clearance) certificate other than issuance of 823 caste and OBC certificates and registration of 357 marriages.
