Nawanshahr police launches ‘wear helmet’ initiative

In a bid to reduce road deaths, Nawanshahr police have come to an initiative to improve safety on local roads by encouraging riders to strap on a helmet before heading out.

The police have decided to provide the ISI helmet on cheaper rates. It will encourage people to wear a helmet while riding.

Apart from this, Nawanshahr police will also organise a massive ‘Helmet Awareness Rally’ on New Year, which will pass from markets, mohallas of city.

In the rally, 50 riders and pillion riders will give the message of wearing helmets.

Local police in collaboration with the Youth Football Welfare Club have been distributing ISI helmets for the past four days at ITI ground and received good response from the public.

Cost of an ISI helmet is between Rs 500 and Rs 600 in the market but we are providing it for Rs 200, Raj Kumar, in charge of police’s Sanjh Kendra Nawanshahr, said .
