NDA all set to make a comeback at centre: Majithia

Congress workers belonging to the Christian community led by Dharminder Bajwa and Daniel Khokhar joined Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday in the presence of Punjab revenue and public relations minister and president of Youth Akali Dal Bikram Singh Majithia.

Welcoming them into the party, Majithia assured them full honour along with due representation in the party besides ensuring a proactive role in the implementation of all policies and programmes of the SAD-BJP government.
Majithia said that the way Congress was rapidly losing people's trust, NDA was all set to make a comeback at the Centre.

He added that people have made up their mind to bundle out UPA alliance.
Majithia pointed out that the state government had enhanced the outlay under Welfare of SC/ BC and weaker sections of the society from Rs 435 crore to Rs 596 crore in the annual plan 2013-14.

He added that Rs 152 crore has been allocated for Shagun to SC/BC/Christian, girls/widows/divorcees and daughters of widows of any caste at the time of their marriage in the state budget 2013-14.

Besides this, Rs 237 crore has been earmarked for SCs/BCs and minority students to provide them an opportunity to go for professional courses.
He added that the SAD-BJP government has appointed a Christian Munawar Masih as chairman of the Punjab State Minority Commission to ensure the welfare of the Christian community.

Majithia informed that the Punjab government has designated five registrars in the state to facilitate the registration of marriages of Christian community.

Mahesh Inder Grewal, advisor to the chief minister Punjab, Harbhajan Singh Dang and Daniel Kokhar, president of Penti Cosal Pastor Association also addressed the function.

On this occasion, MLA Ranjit Singh Dhillon, mayor Harcharan Singh Ghoalbaria, Inder Mohan Singh Kaddian, Gurdeep Singh Gosha, Amrik Singh Nagra and Dharminder Bajwa were also present.
