NRI industrialist and philanthropist Lord Swraj Paul, who was at Punjab Technical University on Friday, laid stress on making rigorous efforts to make the Indian universities world-class.

Lord Swaraj, who is on a tour to India, said the long-term economic health of India would depend largely on a skilled workforce to meet the challenge ahead. Addressing the gathering, he underlined that it was a cause of concern that the standard of education in many Indian education institution was far below standard.

“No Indian university figures among the top 200 universities globally. That is why vigorous efforts are needed to improve standards of education in India,” he said.
