A professor from the Netherlands, Dr Jan Borkent, is on a visit to the Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus (SBSSTC) in Ferozepur. He is in town as part of the SBSSTC tie-up with a new scheme called "Programma Uitzending Managers" (PUM) to introduce innovation and new curriculum in education.
Chairman of the Board of Governors of SBSSTC, Dinesh Lakra, has invited Borkent. Lakra is also the state president of Laghu Udyog Bharti. A joint session of academic experts from the institute and eminent industrialists from around the state attended a meet.
Lakra said that Punjab wanted to provide world-class technology and consultants industrialists under the "PUM Business Link" initiative and the minister for industries and technical education, Anil Joshi, was the architect of this ambitious project.
He added that an "Office of International Affairs" will be set up in SBSSTC Ferozepur. At least five students from his institute in Ferozepur shall go to institutions of higher learning in The Netherlands while an equal number of students shall come to learn especially-designed courses in Ferozepur.
TS Sidhu, the Director of the institute, said that the institute shall enter into long-term academic and industrial collaboration with agencies in The Netherlands for overall improvements in placements of the students.
