After taking over the reins of Ludhiana Congress, three time councillor and a loyal partyman, Gurpreet Gogi has planned to induce technology for uplift of the party that was so far riddled with factionalism.

Groupism in the party was considered to be one of the prime causes of the embarrassment caused due to the loss at the hands of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) during the assembly elections in 2012. Even Ludhiana Congress was facing factionalism during the time of Pawan Dewan, who was considered close to former member of Parliament from Ludhiana Manish Tewari.

However, change of guard seems to have changed the configuration even as a result high command decided to put Gogi as the chief of Ludhiana district.

Gogi, who is well acquainted with the issues and problems of the area, is all set to introduce different steps to bring a “united face of the party forward”. For this, the new chief of district Congress has also planned to introduce a website that could be visited by all party workers and others who wish to learn about new developments going on in the party.

“The website will be able to connect all Congressmen. It will inculcate a spirit of oneness among them and will also tell them about the history of the party in Ludhiana. On the other hand, any guideline that has to be issued to the workers can also be put on the website that will be accessible from any corner of the world,” Gogi said.

Gogi will have the responsibility to rejuvenate the six assembly constituencies under Ludhiana urban.
On the other hand, Gogi who is supported by member of legislative assembly (MLA) Bharat Bhushan Ashu as well as MP Ravneet Singh Bittu has also planned to open new offices of Congress in different zones of the city. However, the main office of the party would remain near clock tower.

It has been learnt that orders for elevation of Gogi were issued on Sunday when Pawan Dewan was out of the city.

Installation ceremony held

An installation ceremony of Gurpreet Gogi was held also at the office of MP Ravneet Singh Bittu on Monday in which Gogi was greeted and congratulated by several Congress leaders and workers.
Bittu said Gogi would now lead the party in Ludhiana. He said Gogi was now holding a responsible position. Gogi thanked senior leaders of the party for the support he got after being elevated as the district chief (urban) of the party.
