Residents of New Shakti Nagar, under the banner of New Shakti Nagar Welfare Society, held a protest demanding repair of roads and removal of encroachments from the area.

President of the society Satish Arora said roads in the locality are in a bad condition and no repair work has been carried out for the past over seven years.

He alleged that a large number of makeshift houses have come up on the government land and residents of these houses are getting involved in theft incidents.

"Many of the goods, stolen from the houses in the locality, can be found in these makeshift houses, but the officials concerned were not taking any action against these encroachers," he said.

He said that residents of the locality would vote against the ruling party during the ensuing civic body elections, if the urban body did not listen to their demands.
