As the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is set to present the railway budget on July 8, the railways has deferred the release of new time table of the trains till August 31. The new time table will come in to effect from September 1.

Chief public relation officer (CPRO), Northern Railways, Neeraj Sharma said, “Normally, the new timetable is released in the last week of June and it comes into effect on July 1. But this year, release of the new time table has been deferred due to the upcoming budget.”

“Since announcement of new trains is expected in the impending budget, the new timetable will incorporate all these changes and will subsequently release the new timetable,” he said.

The CPRO added that the new time table would come in to effect from September 1 and till that time the current timetable will remain valid.

Local station superintendent, RK Dutta, said there was no change in the timing of the existing trains from Chandigarh due to the delay in the decision.
