Dr GPI Singh is new vice-chancellor and Paramjit Singh new registrar of Adesh University here. The appointments were made on Tuesday.
Dr HS Gill, chairman of Adesh Foundation and university's chancellor, welcomed the new heads.Dr (Lt Col) GPI Singh was medical specialist in the armed forces for about 28 years and he taught at the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He was professor and head at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana for about 10 years, and then director principal of the Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bathinda, for three years.
Dr GPI Singh, a scientist with many honours, is also a national expert in preventive and social medicine. He had an invitation to the Lok Sabha standing committee for a special presentation on health implication of genetically modified food in India.
Paramjit Singh is professor of chemical engineering formerly from Panjab University, Chandigarh, where he also served as registrar for about seven years.
