Two days after a 24-year-old woman delivered a child aboard a bus allegedly after being shown the door by doctors at Narwana civil hospital, police have booked the entire staff of the hospital, including doctors, for causing death due to negligence.
Investigation officer Raj Kumar said that all the hospital staff members have been booked under 304A (causing death by negligence) and 336 (endangering life) of the Indian Penal Code. Police said that they would quiz the Narwana staff members on Monday.
The police action followed after the kin of the victim, identified as Geeta Devi, a resident of Bhana village in Jind district, lodged a written complaint.
As per details, Geeta was rushed to Narwana civil hospital on January 9, where hospital staff allegedly
refused to sttend to the patient citing unavailability of the gynaecologist . Left with no option, the kin of the pregnant woman proceeded for Jind civil hospital in a private bus. During the course of journey, the Geeta delivered a girl child with the help of some women passengers. The newborn, however, died soon after taking birth.
Geeta's mother Sunheri Devialleged that the Narwana hospital staff didn't even care to arrange an ambulance for the patient.
However, the charges were refuted by Jind chief medical officer Dr JS Grewal, who claimed that no such patient had come to Narwana civil hospital.
