Girls have outshone boys in the district, bagging all three top positions. As many as 12 students in the district made it to the merit list whereas only three boys figured in the list.
Bhumika, a student of Holy Heart Public School, Bassi Pathana topped in the district and bagged eighth rank in Punjab by securing 96.15 percent marks. Kiranjot Kaur, student of Guru Nanak Public Senior Secondary School, Khantmanpur, stood second in the district and she bagged ninth rank in the state by securing 96 per cent and Ishmanjot Kaur, a student of Mata Sundri Senior Secondary Public School, Fatehgarh Sahib stood third in district and got 19th rank in state by securing 94.46 per cent.
This year nearly 7,984 stu-dents had appeared for the examination in this district and 5389 students passed the exam and pass percentage was 67.5 per cent. No student from government schools of the district made it to merit list.
As per official result, 12 students figured in the merit list in which only three students were boys. Other students who figured in merit list include Loveleen Kaur student of Guru Nanak Public School, Khantmanpur who got 94.31 per cent and bagged 20thrank in state( fourth in district) and Manpreet Kaur of the same school got 94 per cent and 22nd rank in the state( fifth in district) whereas Manjot Kaur of the same school secured 93.85 per cent and stood 23th in the state( sixth in district).
The principal of Holy Heart School, Simardeep Kaur congratulated student who brought laurels to the school by standing first in the district.
