Nishan Singh, the main accused in Shruti kidnapping case, was awarded life sentence while his mother Navjot Kaur and two others were sentenced for seven years each by a trial court, here on Monday.
Shruti Sachdeva (15), who was abducted from her Faridkot house at gunpoint by Nishan Singh and his accomplices on September 24 last year was rescued from Goa almost a month after.
Shruti's father Ashwani Kumar Sachdeva and mother Seema Sachdeva were thrashed by the accused when the couple tried to resist the kidnappers.
Her neighbours also couldn't resist the kidnappers armed with guns and iron rods.
The assailants had dragged her out of the house by hair and bundled her into a Ford Icon car in full public view. The gang had also fired shots to intimidate the neighbours and onlookers.
A team of Punjab Police had found them at Baga beach in Goa.
Nishan had kidnapped Shruti once before as well, however, police did not take any action against him.
After being rescued, Shruti refused to go with her parents and has been living in Nari Niketan home in Jalandhar.
