Reliance Foundation chairperson and Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita Ambani interacted with girls of Unique Home orphanage here on Thursday.
She also took a round of rooms of about 58 inmates and was shown the cradle where girls abandoned by their parents are kept.
Nita said, “I met orphanage patron Prakash Kaur last year during the Real Heroes award ceremony and had promised her that I will meet her ‘daughters’. She has given a new lease of life to these girls whose parents forsook them. Girls are God’s precious gift and I salute this woman for nurturing and providing them good education.”
“I will take along the girls once to watch an IPL cricket match in Mumbai,” she added. The girls had prepared colourful charts with messages which they displayed on the walls.
Nita also attended a cultural programme organised by the inmates at the upcoming building of the orphanage on the Jalandhar-Nakodar road. She sat on the floor with Prakash Kaur and the girls. She enjoyed the performances and also danced with the girls.
She also distributed gifts among the children. “I have got toys from London-based company Hamleys, which Reliance has brought to India.”
A CNN-IBN channel team recorded the proceedings. “We are making a documentary on Prakash Kaur’s success story and Nita Ambani’s visit”, said Anubha, senior correspondent, CNN-IBN.
Prakash had been picked by CNN-IBN among the 24 torchbearers who were felicitated for selflessly devoting their lives for a better tomorrow.
A team from a Dutch channel is also making a documentary on Prakash Kaur and her Unique Home. It will be telecast as part of a show ‘From Bangalore to Bihar’.
