It's more than a week that India's Got Talent's one-legged dancer Shubhreet Kaur Ghumman lodged a complaint against her husband and in-laws here, but the district police are yet to act on it.
Shubhreet, 27, had met the senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Sangrur and filed the complaint on August 7, but till date the police have done nothing on the complaint reportedly due to the transfer of the officers concerned and the Independence Day function.
When contacted, SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said, "Though I had marked her complaint to DSP (special) Gurmeet Kaur on the same day. But she got transferred the very next day."
"Then the complaint was forwarded to DSP (headquarters) Surinder Singh, but he also got transferred within a few days. Then the complaint was forwarded to new DSP (headquarters) Akashdeep Singh Aulakh, who joined on Monday," the SSP said, adding, "Now officers have joined duties after the Independence Day functions, the new DSP will take up the complaint."
Shubhreet said, "I had talked to the police and they said that the action could not be taken on the complaint due to the transfer of officers, now I will meet the SSP again on Tuesday."
The differently-abled dancer, who belongs to Jhunda village of the district, had married Chandigarh-based gym trainer Yash Makkar on June 5, had accused her husband and his parents of harassing her and demanding more dowry.
On July 30, Shubhreet had accused her husband of marrying her by giving false details of his family background and duping her of about `20 lakh, including `4 lakh spent on her marriage. Shubhreet also accused Yash of taking away her ornaments and `10 lakh, which she said her mom gave them after marriage.
