Aggrieved security guards of the Biodiversity Park have not been receiving their salaries for the last four months.
According to the seven security guards, who have been protesting against the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) for the last three months, have complained to the officials several times.
Instead, the officials have been passing the buck, they alleged.
“Every time we go to the officials, they do not take us seriously because we are just seven of us,” said one of the guards.
While the employees’ contract ended in November last year, the MCG continued to keep them on duty but has not paid them.
The authorities said that the salaries had been delayed due to errors in the attendance and assured that the staff would be paid their dues by April 15.
“The delay occurred, because of the shift of the workers from the payroll of the contractor to that of the MCG. Further, the guards didn’t have proper attendance, which also had to be solved. However, now that all the paper work has been completed, they will receive their salaries by April 15,” said Vijaypal Yadav, executive officer, MCG.
The MCG had faced massive protests from sanitation workers on three previous occasions - January 20, March 5 and November 27, 2013 - compelling senior officials to intervene.
