Highlight Story

Even nine months after a case was registered against an unidentified person for stealing a precious handmade picture of erstwhile Faridkot prince Maharaja Balbir Singh, the police have failed to trace the accused.

According to sources, the picture was painted in 1885 and was priced in lakhs, it being an antique piece of art.

The case of the missing picture came to light in October 2010. The historical picture had been lying at the Lal Kothi, a building partly being used by judges as official residence. A senior judge from Faridkot had initiated a probe into the missing picture.

The Faridkot police registered a case against an unidentified person in September 2012 on the complaint of the chief judicial magistrate. But so far, the police have failed to trace the unidentified person.
There was not much progress in the case so far, said a senior police officer.

SSP Gurpreet Singh Randhawa was not available for comment.
