Residents of Bharan village held a blockade on the NH-10 for three hours after suffering without water supply for more than a month.

Residents on the Rohtak-Hisar highway near Madina village said the lack of water supply had forced them to install private tubewells to meet their everyday requirements.

However, the wells had also turned dry, they added.

They added that the district continued to suffer from water scarcity, despite tall claims by authorities concerned and politicians here.

Women residents said due to water scarcity, a private water supplier had made a quick buck by supplying drinking water for a month for `300. However, they added that they were unable to afford it and were forced to wake up authorities at night.

Residents added that the electricity and water supply was irregular in all villages in the district, with electricity being supplied for only five to six hours in a day. They said the absence of water supply for several days continuously was a perennial problem in the district.

The blockade was lifted after authorities assured residents that their problems would be solved immediately.
