The department of excise and taxation has declared that the huge consignment of liquor confiscated by the police in Talwandi Sabo on June 14 was found to be legal one after checking the documents.
Assistant excise and taxation commissioner GS Tiwana, who discussed the matter at a state-level review meeting in Chandigarh on Thursday, said they have checked the documents related to the consignment and it has been found to be genuine one.
He said to remove all doubts about the consignment the department is now checking the holograms on all the bottles confiscated to reach at a final conclusion.
The police had seized 2,200 boxes of liquor at Talwandi Sabo on June 14. The inquiry into the matter was handed over to the excise and taxation department.
However, it still remains a mystery that how such a huge consignment of liquor reached Talwandi Sabo though it was meant for Muktsar district, as per the documents produced by the owner of the consignment.
