In an effort to ease the process of installing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles, authorities have started an online appointment system through which vehicle owners can take an appointment for fixing number plates on their vehicles according to the time suitable to them.
The online service started by Agros Impex Private Limited, the company responsible for HSRPs, allows the owner to visit the website www.hsrppunjab.com. By clicking the 'Schedule for appointment' icon, he can fix any time convenient to get to get the number plate installed on his vehicle.
As per information, the authorities will arrange all the number plates according to the time a day in advance so that a customer is not harassed and does not waste his time by standing in a long queue.
The Short Message Service (SMS) started by the authorities is also running successfully where the client gets to know about the present status of his number plate. The SMS is sent to the registered mobile number of the customer to inform him that his number is ready to install and he can come for the installation after receiving the message instead of going to the department daily.
Ajay Rehal, HSRP zonal operation manager said the initiative was taken to facilitate the customers and lower the burden on their employees. "The SMS facility is getting a good response and the client can avail the facility of the newly-started appointment system through which they can save time," he said.
Soon, the HSRP will also be started in the sub-divisions of Kapurthala district as currently, customers from all sub divisions have to come to Kapurthala city just to get their number plates installed.
Authorities have identified places in three sub divisions, the tehsil office of Phagwara, old tehsil office of Bholath and SDM office of Sultanpur Lodhi where the HSRPs will be installed.
Tajinder Singh, district transport officer (DTO) said he had sent a proposal letter to the government for permission to set up HSRP counters at sub divisional levels.
"I hope within this month, the proposal letter is accepted by the government and we can set up the counters in our sub divisions," he said.
Singh also appealed to the customers who had given installation fees for their number plates but had not come to get them installed to get the same done or their plates will be destroyed and the user will have to re-apply for a new number plate.
"More than 7,000 number plates are lying waste in our stock as customers have not come to get them installed," he said.
