Students in Punjab will get an opportunity to work as interns at regional passport offices in Amritsar and Jalandhar with the ministry of external affairs (MEA) inviting entries from young graduates to apply as ‘passport sewa mitras’.
Regional passport officer Harmanbir Singh Gill said students can apply to work as interns for four to eight weeks starting June 8 and the MEA would provide them certification at the end of the course. May 31 is the last date for submitting the applications.
“Candidates can get application form from the passport office or the website. It is a great opportunity for young graduates to learn about e-governance”, he added.
Graduates in any disciple can apply for the same. The students should be from a centre or institution of excellence. The course would commence from June 8 for four to eight weeks duration.
“Students will get no stipend and no such assurance for the job in MEA. The selection and placement of the intern will be made by RPO,” he said, adding that there is no limit for number of candidates’ selection.
The students will have to submit their report at the end of the course to RPO giving feedback and how they learned by interacting with the public.
The students could also give constructive suggestions for improvements of passport system”, he said adding that the interns would get certificate from MEA after completion of the internship.
