The NRI police have booked a UAE-based NRI for raping his wife and keeping her in the dark about his first marriage.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Abu Dhabi, UAE, married her and established physical relations with her without informing her that he was already married.

She further alleged that Sukhdev's sister Paramjit Kaur of Shimlapuri, who arranged the match, also did not disclose that her brother was already married.

She claimed that Sukhdev had purchased a plot in her name. But later started forcing her to transfer the plot to another woman. When she investigated, she was shocked to find that the other woman was Sukhdev's first wife, who he had two children with.

NRI police station station house officer (SHO) Gurpreet Singh said Sukhdev and his sister, Paramjit, had been booked under sections 376 (rape) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), adding that police had issued look-out circular (LOC) to the airports to arrest the accused.
