From a nude-dance party busted on Saturday evening at Hotel Grand Palki near Partap Chowk here, 11 men, including the owner, and two women were arrested.

A case under Sections 3 (punishment for using commercial premises as brothel), 4 (punishment for living on the earnings of prostitutes) and 5 (inducing someone for prostitution) of the Immoral Trafficking (prevention) Act was registered after this crackdown based on a secret input. Assistant commissioner of police (South) Rajinder Singh Cheema said the arrested women were in their early twenties and the men from different places of Punjab outside Ludhiana. "The price for the party invitation was hefty," he added.

The hotel owner and manager ran flesh trade in the guise of this party every weekend, the ACP has said. Hotel owner Satnambir Singh; manager Bachan Singh; customers Vijay Garag, Nain Bas, Pawitter Singh, Rajwinder Singh, Kewal Krishan, Sandeep Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Pankaj Kumar, and Sadesh Rana; and dancers Jyoti Rani and Sonia are the accused. The women, who are from Daba and Shimlapuri areas of Ludhiana, perform in an orchestra. They were paid `5,000 each for one night of the vulgar show.

A hunt is for the gang that supplies women to these parties where police suspect that drugs are also served.

Was started to cover losses

Hotel owner Satnambir Singh is reported to have told the police since his venture had failed to attract customers, he had to start throwing nude-dance parties to cover his financial losses. People tried to blow his cover many times but police would never take their complaints seriously until the matter was moved to senior officers.
