Dharam Singh, a resident of Bhai Rupa village, was picked by Phul police station, before they were scheduled to hold a demonstration against Punjab rural development and panchayats minister Sikander Singh Maluka to protest against sacrilege incidents and taking over of a disputed piece of land by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). The cops present on the duty made his nude video on November 17, 2015. However, t he video went viral on February 5.

Addressing the gathering, Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Congress candidate from Rampura, said though the police have registered a case against two cops allegedly involved in the case, yet the real culprits were SAD leaders from the area, who first orchestrated Dharam’s arrest and then made his video in the police station. “This incident stood testimony not only to ‘goondaraj’ during the tenure of the Akali government, but police working under pressure of local SAD leaders. I have also brought the matter to the notice of Captain Amarinder Singh, who assured to take up the matter with senior police authorities,” he said.

Kangar added that the Congress wanted the cyber crime cell to investigate the source from where the video was leaked. “It is the complete failure of the local police that no arrest has been made in the case so far,” he said.
