Nurmahal SHO Kewal Singh said that investigation was on and notices have been sent to some relatives of the deceased.
Two investigations by DSP rank officers had come to naught. Sukhdev Singh, alias Tara of Uppal Khalsa village near here, had committed suicide on June 8, 2007 along with his pregnant wife and
five-year-old daughter by jumping in front of a train after being allegedly tortured by the Nurmahal police.
Former Nurmahal SHO Shiv Dev Singh Kahlon was booked under sections 217,342,306, 323 and 120-B of the IPC and section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 3 and 4 of the SC/ST Act in July 2007.
On why was the case not being handled by the DSP as mandated by the SC/ST Act 1989, SHO Kewal Singh said the court had ordered reinvestigation by Nurmhal SHO.
